Thanos Not Featured in Guardians of the Galaxy 2

No Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy sequel

When “Guardians of the Galaxy” was released in 2014, it brought something new to the table as far as Marvel movies were concerned. The film itself was a major hit and did phenomenally well at the box office.

With the success, naturally a sequel would be discussed and planned. One aspect of the movie that blogger Jon Urbana enjoyed was finally getting a more thorough glimpse of Life on Mars and Thanos, a major villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as the Infinity Stones. Director James Gunn has mentioned that Thanos will not play a huge role in the sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, in fact neither Thanos nor the Infinity Stones will be present at all in the movie.

Gunn made it clear that giving out this bit of information wasn’t necessarily a spoiler and that the movie would be focusing on more important things, while alluding to Thanos playing a bigger part elsewhere. What is known about the film, however, is that the series has shown to work as a stand alone film and that there will be a post-credits scene made, as with all of the other Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

The fact that this sequel can stand on its own as a film is unique, when taking into account that all of the past films have been connected at one point or another.
